Catriona Duncan
For eight years I
taught English to adults in Nuremberg, organizing English language
training programmes for firms and teaching at all levels from beginners
to advanced.
For the City of Nuremberg’s ‘Bildungszentrum’,
I’ve run specialised seminars on Speaking and Presenting in
English, The Language of Meetings, English Pronunciation, and workshops
on cross cultural awareness and on Scottish culture. Among other
qualifications I have two Diplomas in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Before working in Germany,
I taught modern languages at secondary schools in Scotland
for 20 years. I was born in Scotland
and hold an MA Honours degree in German from the University of Aberdeen
and am a qualified teacher of German and French, currently registered as
a member of the Scottish Teaching Council.

Working in Germany has taught me to have
every sympathy with adults who, on top of a busy professional life, are
also expected to find time to improve their English , an essential
professional tool for present-day international communication.
All my courses are tailored to the specific needs of the learners. But I
also want to make learning a pleasure. I believe that the best
stimulation is to put learners in contact with real native speakers in
their home environment. That’s why I’m organising study
holidays and short courses in the beautiful little town of Bridge of Allan
where I live, offering visits and excursions as well as language
teaching, an insight into Scottish life today, and a chance to meet my
friends and neighbours and people with whom my students share
professional interests.
